Hear our humble prayer, O God, for our friends the animals, especially for animals who are suffering; for animals that are overworked, underfed and cruelly treated; for all wistful creatures in captivity that beat their wings against bars; for any that are hunted or lost or deserted or frightened or hungry; for all that must be put to death.

We entreat for them all Thy mercy and pity, and for those who deal with them we ask a heart of compassion and gentle hands and kindly words.
Make us, ourselves, to be true friends to animals, and so to share the blessings of the merciful.

For the LOVE OF ANIMALS: Protect Pets & Wild Animals From Suffering in Traps

Protect Pets & Wild Animals from suffering in Traps

Urge Commission to Adopt New Rule on Trap Visits!

Dear Nevada Animal Advocates,

More and more, traps for “nuisance animals” like coyotes, raccoons and skunks are being set near populated, well-traveled areas—even along trails where families hike. As a result, we’ve seen an increase in the frequency of pets falling victim to traps.

Currently, the state allows trap-setters to go 96 hours (four days!) between visits to check their traps.

A companion animal has a much better chance of surviving an encounter with a trap if it is visited every 24 hours rather than every 96—and regardless of which species a trap ensnares, this is far too long for animals to languish in traps as they suffer through injuries, hunger, thirst, the elements and predators.

What You Can Do

We need your help to convince the  Nevada Wildlife Commission to adopt a maximum 24-hour trap visitation time. The Commission  will meet in Las Vegas on September 21 to consider this issue. If you live near Las Vegas, we urge to you attend the meeting—and everyone in the state can email the commissioners.

Please visit now to learn more and to quickly contact the members of the Nevada Wildlife Commission!
